I recently retired and took up sewing again after 25 years. I didn't even have a sewing machine anymore, so I purchased a new machine. I received this sewing chest for a gift. I keep it next to my machine and use it all of the time. It is so handy and is such a nice compact size. It contains all of the accessories you need for sewing projects. My nine-year old granddaughter has shown an interest in sewing when she comes over, so I bought her a sewing machine and this chest for a Christmas present. I know this chest has everything in it she will need to get started on a great hobby.
The Fiskars 9911 model pictured with this listing is the older version of these same scissors -- which is the reason I chose to purchase them here. However, it appears that Fiskars no longer produces the version pictured. They new model has been redesigned to be more "ergonomic" I suppose... but the slide lock mechanism on the new models isn't located in the same spot which makes it slightly less convenient for me large hands. Also, the lock on the new model tends to slip forward when cutting and hinders the range of the scissors and will occasionally slip back and let the scissors open when they are in my holster.
All in all I have always been happy with the Fiskars scissors -- the blades stay sharp and the cutting action is smooth -- but as with some other products in the past (think "New Coke") the older model is superior to the newer.
I used one of these many years ago. Designed a wedding gown and a man's suit. It sure is helpful. Was worried that I could not find it again. Am now designing again for a friend. Thank you for having it.

I bought this as a beginner's machine, and so far it has worked great. Threading the machine is super easy and the bobbin just drops in. My only problem is that it goes too fast! It has a pedal, but if you try to press lightly it only makes a noise like it's revving up, then away it goes! Once it starts up you can slow it down, but there's no initial ease into the stitch. I bought a magnetic seam guide which helped greatly with keeping the stitches straight. It doesn't come with a case, though, so you have to buy one separately. Definitely worth the price and delivered very quickly, but I will probably upgrade once my skills improve.
This is my first experience with kevlar thread and I am simply amazed. I'm sure I'm not surprising anyone when I mention that it is incredible how strong this thread is, but I have to say it anyway. It's *astonishingly* strong. It opens up lots of interesting possibilities. So thin as to be nearly invisible, it's the perfect thing for, say, hanging art or lighting from a ceiling. Used in other crafts, especially when blended in with other materials, it can greatly improve the durability of your work without having an overbearing presence in color, texture, or performance. For example, I made a thin cord by mixing 50% nylon, 25% polyester and 25% kevlar thread. The result is very tangle resistant, soft and supple, and just *freaky* strong. Very very impressed.
I had recently purchased a brother cs-6000i sewing machine, and I wanted a carrying case to go along with it. I came across the brother hard cover carrying case, however reviews weren't all that great. I wanted a more convenient way to lug around my sewing machine and having a big box-y thing that didn't even fit my sewing machine correctly wasn't appealing. So I discovered this case and, wouldn't you know, my sewing machine fit perfectly in it!! It doesn't clank around and it protects your sewing machine. I'm happy that I purchased this carrying case instead of the brother one! For all of those who have the same sewing machine as me, get this one.
Decided on this item over just thread with no bobbins for more. Makes sewing and mending easy with color choices available. Thanks to person who thought of idea of putting bobbins and threads together.
I bought this form to help in making my wedding dress. The form it's self is great. The fabric covering the form really helps make the fabric your using cling. Which is helpful in pinning. I have been having a little bit of a hard time keeping her up at my height. But I fixed that by drilling a hole in the base and putting a cotter pin in. (if your a handy person doing this will help keep her up. I also have used her to put my costume dresses (for Halloween) on to clean them. She seemed to hold up to that. My only real complaint is I would have loved for her to rotate all the way around, or be on wheels.
They don't sell Fiskar paper trimmers or these replacement blades in office supply stores anymore. Hunted the Net for them, found them in a few places with a single blade nearly as much as this 5 pack or 5 pack a lot more expensive. But Amazon was by far the cheapest. Arrived in only a couple days. Way to go Amazon!
Just bought this coverhem machine from Kens Sewing. Five minutes after unpack I had a lovely, perfect 8" coverhem sample. That was yesterday. Today I have a lovely, new t-shirt with painless, perfect hems and bound neckline compliments of this machine.
The machine isn't high-end (results are tho) but I'm thinking that it's going to help me puzzle out why my 4yo, 00 Bernina overlock/chain/coverstitch can't make--never has--anywhere near an acceptable coverstitch let alone a chainstitch.

Oh, and, Ken has the best price (far as I can tell) in the US. Also, having fumbled the initial order I created an immediate customer service test. Ken and crew passed w/flying colors. I am one happy camper.

I made a decision to start sewing, so I needed to buy a more reliable machine than the one I was borrowing from a friend that was old and annoyingly difficult (not the best thing to relearn a skill you'd never really mastered in the first place). However, I didn't want to spend a lot of money to get the fanciest machine ever when I know that I have a tendency to obsess over things for a few weeks and then get bored. Plus, I wasn't even sure I'd be good at it. So I did my research and although I must admit that my decision to buy this particular machine had a LITTLE bit to do with it being pink, I liked the price and the simplicity. Anyway, 6 months later I still love my machine and it's so easy and reliable. We have our moments but my friend with a 500 dollar machine has the same issues with hers (it's just a sewing thing) so all in all, I totally recommend this machine if you're like me and want cheap, easy and simple. It's a bargain. Maybe it won't last to pass on to my kids but it's a great stepping stone.
Hard-sided carrying cases for sergers do not seem to be very common (at least they weren't when I was searching for one). Most people likely keep the serger set up all the time and so don't need to store it. I currently don't have a dedicated sewing area, and wanted a hard side instead of a luggage-style soft side case so that it could function as a 'cabinet' when the serger is not in use. This one is just the ticket- it's made to fit a variety of serger sizes, and my Brother 1034D fits inside with plenty of room to also hold a small box of accessories.
Ok never touched a sewing machine before and i've sewn and embroidered with this and I can't believe how easy it was! First thing i did was read the directions and i absolutely love how it has a step by step process on the machine as well and it's marked on the machine to tell you exactly what to do! (nothing wrong with teaching us barney style!) anyways, I was able to thread a bobbin from the very beginning, then i learned to thread the top with no problem at all. I then ventured to try to stich and it went perfectly! my mom was impressed with what I was able to do within minutes of taking it out of the box! (like i said never touched a sewing machine prior!) ok then I thought ok now time to test the embroidery patterns out and following the instructions it was no problem at all. It turned out soooooo well! I love this machine and I am absolutely positively happy that I purchased this! It is definetely money worth spent in my opinion! It's definetely good if your a beginner like myself, there are still things that I am gonna learn down the road but so far it's been a blast and I can't wait to start making things for my daughter. I took a picture of a bib that I had cross stiched and thought it would be cool to try to embroider on it. and I'll post a pic of it to show you that a beginner can embroider and have it turn out nicely!
