This is a fantastic little machine, given the very cheap price. I bought this so my mom could hem six or seven pairs of pants for my kids, about half of those jeans.
Getting it set up originally wasn't simple- it came threaded with white, but we needed to use colors. It took some experimentation to figure out just the right tension. But once we figured it out, we had no problem, even changing threads easily. It handled denim well, just strained a bit at the heavier seams where it was going through more than two layers.
It isn't a replacement for a full size machine for the typical sewer, but for me it will be wonderful. And it's so cheap.
